When Restylane® is injected under your skin, the gel “fills in” areas that naturally lack structural support and smoothes wrinkles that form due to volume loss.
Restylane® is not only effective, it also comes with few risks since hyaluronic acid is already present in your skin. Restylane® is a classic hyaluronic acid filler that is formulated to act like your body’s own naturally-produced hyaluronic acid. This product delivers visible correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines that run from your nose toward the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines that run from the corners of your mouth toward your chin (marionette lines). It may also be used for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21.
Restylane® Lyft is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler used for moderate to deep facial depressions. Lyft boosts the body’s supply of hyaluronic acid (which naturally depletes with age) for a lifted, voluminous look. The hyaluronic acid particles inside Lyft are larger than the gel particles in Restylane®, so it’s especially effective at plumping up deeper wrinkles and folds. Lyft is also used for volume enhancement in the backs of the hands.
With aging, changes around the mouth can bring on lip thinning, loss of shape and definition, and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane® Silk provides natural-looking results in these mouth areas with its refined, smooth gel formulation. The unique, clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid is designed to treat areas around the mouth without adding as much volume as other dermal fillers. The results are smoother lips and fewer lines – for a younger and more natural-looking smile.
Kysse is an exciting newer addition to the Restylane® family. Restylane® Kysse is cross-linked with BDDE, an ingredient that helps form a network of hyaluronic acid to create a gel filler that lasts longer. Designed specifically with the lips in mind, Kysse is made with XpresHAn Technology™ that maintains softness and flexible movement. This unique filler can enhance the texture and color of the lips while reducing wrinkles and improving border definition for a smoother, more youthful mouth appearance.
As you age, your skin loses elasticity and creases like nasolabial folds and chin wrinkles become more pronounced. Restylane® Defyne is created with XpresHAn Technology™ to correct these lines. The unique cross-linking of the gel in Restylane® Defyne is also designed to help support your facial expressions for natural-looking results that don’t interfere with your natural movement. Restylane® Refyne, smaller in molecular size than Defyne, is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler made with XpresHAn Technology™ that helps correct lines around the nose, mouth and chin. Refyne is often used to treat moderate wrinkles and more superficial lines, while Defyne excels at filling deeper creases and providing more substantial volume.
To begin your Restylane® treatment, you will meet with one of our licensed injectors to discuss your concerns and health history. If your injector determines that you are a good candidate for Restylane® fillers, they will create a plan that utilizes the best product for delivering smooth and even results in your chosen treatment area.
Restylane® treatments are quick, convenient and simple. A topical anesthetic may be applied to provide a numbing effect, although many fillers are formulated with lidocaine to numb the treatment area during injection. After the treatment area is prepped, your injector will begin administering Restylane® into the desired areas with a small needle designed for comfort and minimal tissue damage. Most patients are in and out of their Restylane® appointment in about an hour.
After Restylane® injections, you can return to most of your usual activities right away. You may experience some side effects like redness, swelling or sensitivity around the injection site, but overall, the treatment is virtually painless and has few associated risks. Try to avoid excessive heat and protect your skin from the sun as much as possible. Take a break from vigorous physical exercise and other strenuous activities that raise the pulse. It’s fine to cover up any bruising or redness with makeup the next day following your treatment.
Restylane® results are visible right away. Depending on which product was used, your improvements may last for up to six months to twelve months. Additional injections are required to maintain a refreshed appearance. Due to the gentle nature of hyaluronic acid fillers, having regular treatments poses no added risk. Your Skin Artisans technician can work with you to create a Restylane® maintenance plan that meets your needs and keeps you looking your best.
