Dermal fillers are an excellent tool for restoring a more youthful appearance to your face, but did you know that they can also be used to turn back the clock on aging hands? Radiesse® is the first FDA-approved dermal filler for both face and hands. Not only does it offer long-lasting results for smoothing lines and wrinkles, but Radiesse® can also replenish volume on the backs of the hands to make veins and tendons appear less prominent. Plus! It actually stimulates your skin to produce more collagen, so your wrinkles improve long after your filler has dissolved! Read on to learn more about rejuvenating your face and body with Radiesse®.

What is Radiesse®? How does it work?

Radiesse® is unique in the world of dermal fillers. It is made up of a water-based gel and microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). Calcium hydroxylapatite is a biocompatible material that has been used for decades in many medical procedures. These two components of Radiesse® work synergistically for both immediate and long-term benefits.

Once injected, Radiesse® adds instant volume under the skin to create the appearance of a smoother surface. Over time, it stimulates your body’s natural process of generating collagen. As your body gradually absorbs the gel and metabolizes the CaHA microspheres, fresh collagen is left behind, leaving skin in a smoother state than before your treatment!

Where can Radiesse® be used?

The unique properties of Radiesse® make it an effective and versatile option for other areas of the body that can be difficult to treat, such as vertical lines on the chest and sagging skin above the knees. It is an industry favorite for the backs of hands to diminish the appearance of deep blue veins and prominent tendons.

RADIESSE® is most commonly injected in the following locations:

  • Smile lines: also called the nasolabial folds, are the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines: the lines that run downward from the corners of the mouth
  • Corners of the mouth: also called the oral commissure, if these are turned downward it can make you look as though you’re frowning
  •  Pre-jowl fold: the area on either side of the chin where skin can sag due to loss of facial volume
  • Chin wrinkles: horizontal lines that can form on your chin and distract from your smile

How long does Radiesse® last?

Like any injectable dermal filler, the results of Radiesse® will eventually wear off. However, because the active ingredient, calcium hydroxylapatite, has been shown to help stimulate collagen production, many patients feel as though their results last longer than traditional hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. On average, the effects of Radiesse® last 12 to 18 months.

Your face is one of the first things others notice about you. You deserve to feel confident about how it looks! Radiesse® is a fantastic solution for smoothing facial wrinkles and reversing the signs of aging in the backs of the hands.
