Skin Artisans is thrilled to welcome Advanced Practice Esthetician Nikia Nowlen to our team! Nikia comes to us with years of experience in medical esthetics and a true passion for skincare. She will be providing services at our new Plymouth location within the Carlson Parkway building. Read on to learn more about Nikia!
Nikia’s passion for skincare began in her late 20s. Like so many of her future patients, she had spent her youth as a sun worshipper. As a result, Nikia began to notice the visible toll UV damage was taking on her skin, including an uneven skin tone, dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. In a quest to find effective solutions to improve her skin’s condition and appearance, she became inspired by the esthetics industry and the ever-evolving treatments it offered. Nikia did a deep dive into the cosmetic chemistry of physician-grade skincare products, learned how lasers worked to correct different skin concerns, and became increasingly fascinated by the entire skincare world, especially after it improved her own skin! As a result, Nikia left her decade-long career in Corporate Finance to pursue her newfound passion and attend school full-time to become a licensed esthetician.
After graduating from St. Paul Technical College in 2016 with her Licensed Esthetician (LE) credentials, Niki gained experience by working at a physician directed skincare clinic. In 2017 she earned her Esthetics in a Medical Setting certification and her Advanced Practice Esthetician (APE) license. She went on to work with Dr. Brian Kobienia of Kobienia Plastic Surgery before his practice joined Edina Plastic Surgery in 2024!
To Nikia, the most rewarding part of being an Advanced Practice Esthetician is the impact the treatments and products she offers can have on a patient’s self-confidence and quality of life. She loves crafting highly personalized treatment plans for her patients that cater to exactly what their skin needs, work with their lifestyle, and get them visible results as quickly as possible. Nikia prioritizes building trusting relationships that last so she can care for her patient’s skin throughout every chapter of their lives.
Nikia is excited to work with Skin Artisans because all of her team members are incredibly professional, supportive, ethical, and passionate about doing what is best for each patient. She shares their collective drive for continuing education and consistently strives to advance her skill set to be the best in the industry. Nikia believes these are the kind of providers patients deserve—those at the absolute top of their craft!
When not at Skin Artisans, Nikia loves spending time with family, friends, and her Vizsla named Koda Jo! She comes from a long line of people who are passionate about the outdoors. As a result, Nikia can often be found hiking, biking, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. She loves living in Minnesota and feels grateful for all of the ways it allows her to enjoy nature.
