Not only does “Dr. Allison” have years of experience delivering many of the injectable and laser skincare services you’re already familiar with at Skin Artisans, but she is also launching an entirely new lineup of procedures that revolve around women’s health and wellness and hormone optimization. Read on to get to know Dr. Allison and learn about the exciting new treatments she will be offering at our Edina and Minnetonka locations!
Dr. Allison Heimer, “Dr. Allison” to her patients, has always felt driven by her passion to help others. Through the years, this motivation has presented itself in many forms, from treating acute traumas in the emergency room to helping women look and feel like the best versions of themselves. No matter what hat she is wearing as a physician, Dr. Allison’s heart remains consistent in its desire to make every person she touches healthier and happier and to help them lead a more fulfilling life.
Dr. Allison’s Background & Training
Although Dr. Allison’s primary focus has been on Aesthetic Medicine for the past decade, her medical career began over two decades ago and on a much different track. After graduating from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN, in 1994, Dr. Allison went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1998. She then completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the Kalamazoo Center of Medical Studies in Kalamazoo, MI, in 2001.
Dr. Allison’s career in Emergency Medicine has taken her all around the world, quite literally! She has worked as an ER physician in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Her experiences in each country and working within the unique cultures of each have not only shaped her as a physician but also as a woman. She has learned to embrace adventure and diversity, be resilient and patient, and remain curious and compassionate towards everyone she meets. These qualities have led her to form deep, meaningful, and lasting relationships with her patients and have helped her build her unique approach to aesthetics that treats the “whole” person from the inside out.
As Dr. Allison’s career progressed and her children grew older, she felt compelled to seek a better work/life balance outside of the ER to spend more time with her family. She began training in Aesthetic Medicine and developed an immense passion for how the field blended her background in science, technology, medicine, and her artistic skill set to help her patients look and feel more youthful and vibrant. Since her career transition, Dr. Allison has worked in some of the most prominent clinics in the Twin Cities, expanding and advancing her skills.
Dr. Allison’s Services
Due to her background and expertise, Dr. Allison offers a unique approach to Aesthetic Medicine. Not only is she highly experienced in treatments like dermal fillers, neurotoxins, and laser skincare treatments, but she has also trained extensively in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, or BHRT, and women’s health. Dr. Allison is a certified Biote® provider. When Dr. Allison isn’t making patients look and feel their best at both of our Skin Artisans locations, she can be found outdoors! She is an avid gardener, golfer, and pickleball player. Dr. Allison also loves to travel and learn more about other cultures. However, more than anything, she relishes spending time with her family and friends.
